Thirteen journalists from various media organizations were injured on Saturday in a road accident in Bauchi State while covering the commissioning of projects by the North-East Development Commission, officials said.

The accident occurred along the Yashi–Yelwan Duguri Road in Alkaleri Local Government Area when the vehicle conveying the journalists reportedly lost control and tumbled off the road. The media team had been part of an official delegation touring newly completed development projects in the area.

The incident happened shortly after the delegation, led by the Minister of State for Regional Development, commissioned a newly constructed Government Secondary School in Yelwan Duguri. The journalists were traveling from the event when the crash occurred.

According to preliminary reports, the victims sustained a range of injuries, including fractures, head injuries and bruises. Emergency responders and local residents assisted in moving the injured from the scene for urgent medical attention.

Bauchi State Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau Mohammed later visited the victims and directed that they be taken to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital for specialized treatment. Authorities have not released further details on the cause of the accident as of the time of reporting.
