A 14-year-old girl, identified as Paloma Nicole Arellano Escobedo, has died from health complications following a breast enlargement surgery allegedly carried out without her father’s consent.

Reports indicate that the procedure was arranged by her mother’s boyfriend and led to severe complications, including brain swelling and cardiorespiratory arrest, which ultimately caused her death.

Paloma’s father, Carlos Arellano, has disputed the official cause of death, accusing authorities of concealing the truth.

“Her death certificate falsely stated ‘illness’ as the cause of death in an attempt to cover up the truth,” he said. “At the funeral, some relatives told me her breasts were larger than before. When I confronted her mother, she denied it. But she clearly had implants — we have photographs showing the implants and surgical scars. We immediately demanded an autopsy.”

The Attorney General, Yadira de la Garza Fragoso, confirmed that an investigation is underway.

“We are investigating a probable lack of care on the part of the mother for placing a minor under her custody in risky situations,” she stated.

Authorities have yet to disclose whether charges will be filed as inquiries continue.
