143 UN countries vote against Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian regions
In the last week, the UN General Assembly meeting of about 143 countries outrightly condemned and voted against an attempt by the Russian Federation to annex Ukrainian four regions.
In the world security meeting, the Russian referendum to annex Ukraine’s four regions was described as a sham and vexatious.
The UN general assembly had asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to withdraw from the war in the interest of world peace and the protection of the UN charter.
The UN resolution was supported by 143 countries, with 35 abstentions and 5 refused to vote, and 5 voting in support of Russia.
The UN said the occupation of the Russian military in Ukraine violates Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence.
The security council urged member states to give Ukraine all needed assistance while warning Putin of his nuclear threats.
