Sixteen leading African artists have arrived in Nigeria for the 9th edition of the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA), hosted by the Lagos State Government.

The week-long event, which kicked off on January 7, will culminate on January 11, 2026, with a spectacular live broadcast of Africa’s premier music awards ceremony.

Speaking at a briefing, Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, said: “Lagos State is proud to continue its support for initiatives that elevate African talent and position culture as a driver of development.”

The event will feature performances from African superstars, industry leaders, and creative entrepreneurs from across the continent.

AFRIMA President, Mike Dada, stated that the aim is to showcase African musical talent and capacity to the rest of the world, promoting African cities and destinations globally.

The event will include a high-energy concert on January 9 and the grand finale awards ceremony on January 11 at Eko Hotels, Victoria Island.

Dada emphasized that AFRIMA aims to promote economic benefit and serve as a platform for economic transformation, leveraging the digital creative economy to develop African nations.

The Lagos State Government has partnered with the British High Commission to promote cultural exchange and diplomacy.
