An Onitsha-based trader, identified simply as Iyke, was allegedly murdered on Sunday in the Fegge area of Onitsha, Anambra State.

The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Chiemerie from Ebonyi State, is accused of killing his employer with a pestle in what sources describe as a violent attack.

According to information circulating in a viral video shared by Facebook user OBC Afunwa, the deceased was a businessman at the popular Ogbo Ogwu Market in Onitsha.

The video claimed that the incident has sent shockwaves through the local trading community.

The motive behind the killing remains unclear at the time of this report. Law enforcement authorities have yet to release an official statement confirming the circumstances surrounding the incident or the status of the suspect.

Meanwhile, the tragic development has sparked conversations among traders about the importance of proper background checks and caution when engaging apprentices.
