The 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has clarified that he is not desperate to become Nigeria’s president in 2027 but is instead focused on building a better country.

Speaking during an interview, Obi explained that his political ambition is driven by a desire to serve, not by personal interest. He stressed that Nigeria is facing deep economic and social challenges, and what the country needs most is competent leadership, not desperate politicians seeking power.

Obi urged Nigerians to hold leaders accountable and insist on transparency, equity, and justice, noting that only good governance can rescue the nation from its current difficulties. He further assured his supporters that his commitment to Nigeria’s progress remains unwavering, whether or not he emerges as president in the next election.

The former Anambra State governor also called on citizens to prioritize the nation’s future above individual or party ambitions, emphasizing that true leadership must be about service, not self-interest.
