Breaking: Abia lawmaker Ikwechegh Under Police Investigation over attack on Uber driver

 

The FCT, Police Division has arrested the Abia reps Member for assaulting an Uber driver in the nation’s capital.

 

 

Meanwhile, Josephine Adeh, the spokesperson for the FCT Command, confirmed that Alex Mascot Ikwechegh has been arrested and under going questioning.

 

 

 

Meantime, Mrs Josephine explained in the statement that the Uber driver, Stephen Abuwatseya, reported the incident to the Command.

 

“Preliminary investigations reveals that Mr. Abuwatseya was delivering a parcel to Hon. Ikwechegh when a argument arose concerning the method of delivery, however Mr. Abuwatseya was reportedly physically abused.

 

However, the FCT Police Command expressed serious concern over Hon. Ikwegh’s disdainful attitude toward the office of the Inspector General of Police following the incident.

 

 

“After allegedly slapping the victim, he reportedly remarked with contempt, ‘You can go ahead and call the Inspector General of Police,’ demonstrating a troubling disrespect to constituted authority.

 

“Currently, Ikwechegh is at the Maitama Police Station undergoing scrutiny”.

 

The statement added that the CP. in FCT, Olatunji Disu, has mandated a unadulterated investigation into the incident.

 

“The Command is committed to conducting an unbias investigation and ensuring justice in all cases. Upon completion of the investigation, appropriate legal action will be taken.” the statement added.
