A renowned movement, the Federated Meinbutus community has spoken out against the moves to malign their respected leaders, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (also known as Tompolo) and Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme Chief Dennis Brutu Otuaro (PhD) by one Jude Gbaboyor and his co-travellers.
The Meinbutus leadership said the Niger Delta struggle in the 19th century could be traced back to the Meinbutus, and that they will not sit by while their leaders’ names were tarnished by people they described as identity thieves and common criminals.
The Ijaw movement, Meinbutus said with the significant contributions and sacrifices of Tompolo and Dr Otuaro Otuaro, no well-meaning youth and leader from Niger Delta could insult Tompolo and Dr Otuaro.
The Meinbutus employment committee chairman, Gen Omojo Victor who addressed the press shortly after the press briefing said Jude Gbaboyor is pursuing personal interest and that the public should ignore and disregard all his lies and misinformation.
Meinbutus emphasised that the federal government and the NNPC recognized Tompolo’s expertise in the security management and nominated him for the pipeline contract, citing that he didn’t go and lobby for it.
They urged blackmailers to stop insulting Tompolo and Dr Dennis Otuaro, adding that if the Jude Gbaboyor and his sponsors have anything to discuss they should seek dialogue.
The statement reads by Meinbutus National Secretary B. E. Perekeme, said, “I don’t think Jude Gbaboyor and his sponsors are more involved in the Niger Delta struggle than us, the Niger Delta struggle of the 19th century started from the Meinbutus. You “Jude and Boyloaf” or whatever you call yourselves, we are warning you to desist from tarnishing the image of our foremost Leaders of the Niger Delta region High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (AKA) Tompolo and the President Amnesty coordinator Chief Dennis Burutu Otuaro(PhD).
“The Tantita pipeline contract you are talking about, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (AKA) Tompolo didn’t lobby for any contract, it was the federal government and the NNPC that nominated Tompolo for the contract having seen his expertise in the management of security.
“Where were you when the Federal government awarded the contract, where were Jude and Boyloaf when the federal government pinpointed the High Chief Government Ekpemupolo to take sole control of the pipeline security contract!
“We the Meinbutus Kingdom is warning mischief makers who hell bent to tarnish the image of our great leaders High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (AKA) Tompolo and Administrator of the presidential Amnesty programme PAP, Dr Dennis Otuaro, else we will come hard on you and your sponsors”, they warned.
