39-year-old Dies in Dispute settlement in Kogi

A dispute mediator aged ’39’ identified as Sunday Orishagbemi, was stabbed to death while trying to settle a quarrel between two men for urinating in Zango Daji Quarters in the Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State on Friday.

The Kogi State Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Ayah who confirmed the incident said the trouble started in the evening of Friday when a friend of the deceased, who is a vulcanizer at Ganaja junction, Lokoja, urinated close to a building owned by one of the residents of the quarters.

The eyewitness narrated that the owner of the building resisted the action and a quarrel began between them.

He explained that during the ensuing dispute, the deceased came in to settle the quarrel between his friend and the boy.

The source said while settling the dispute, the son of the owner of the house brought out a knife and stabbed Orishagbemi to death.

According to the police PPRO, who spoke to newsmen in an interview with journalists in Lokoja on Saturday, the deceased was killed at Okada Park at Zango Daji, confirming that the suspect had been arrested by the police for investigation.

He assured that the suspect would be arraigned in court for prosecution as soon as the investigation is concluded in the case.
