Alleged rape: Bishop Feyi Remanded in Prison

The presiding and founder of “I Reign Christian Ministry, Daniel Oluwafeyiropo also known as Bishop Feyi has been sent to Kirikiri prison for allegedly raping two of his church members.
Bishop Feyi was remanded in prison by Sexual Offence and Domestic Violence on Monday, April 17, following a rape allegation charged against him by the Lagos state ministry of justice, on behalf of his church worshippers.
Mr Babajide Martins, the Lagos state Director of Public Prosecution stated that ” After a consideration of the facts available in the duplicate case file, the office of DPP is of the view that there exists prima facie the offence of rape under section 260 of criminal law, Ch, C17, vol. 3, laws of Lagos State, 2015 against the suspect Olowafeyiropo Daniel”.
Olukunle Oyewole, the counsel to the alleged rapist pleaded not guilty to the charges, and begged Justice Ramon Oshodi to grant him bail on liberal terms.
“My Lord, the defendant was not informed on the day the matter came up for the first time before this court, he stated.
“My client is a well recognized religious leader and he has shown by his actions that he will not jump bail, the offence which he’s charged is a bailable offence and he has credible sureties that can stand for him”-he added.
Babajide Boye, the state lead prosecution counsel pleaded to the court not to grant him bail.
However, the judge in his rulling granted the cleric N20 million bail with two sureties in like sum, ordering he should remain in prison pending the perfection of the bail condition.
Recall, the cleric recently said that the Nigeria president elect, Bola Tinubu would be unlawfully declared the winner of the 2023 presidential election by Independent National Electoral Commission.
