NNPCL: Ararume’s sack illegal, unlawful – Court

The sack of Sen. Ifeanyi Ararume as Non-Executive Chairman of the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) as been declared as illegal and unlawful by the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Justice Inyang Ekwo, delivering judgement on Tuesday, April 18 stated that Ifeanyi Ararume removal was unconstitutional, ordering that he should be reinstated as the Non Executive Chairman of the company with full benefits.
The judge in his judgement awarded N5 billion damages in favour of Ararume and also set aside every decision taken by the board after Ararume’s removal.
It was reported that Ararume sued the Federal government for illegal removal as NNPCL Chairman, he contended his removal by vide letter dated, Jan.17, 2022 with reference number SGF.3V111/86 was a violation of CAMA law which NNPCL was incorporated.
