Cult- clash claims two lives in Lagos

By Sola Omoniyi, LagosKamoru Lasisi, an undergraduate of the Lagos state university and Lateef Atanda, a tiler has been killed following a clash between cult members .The clash which involved members of the Eiye and Aiye confraternities at Ijanikin Lagos state had led to the death of two persons, Atanda and Kamoru.For over two months, the cult members had been creating tension in Ijanikin community of Lagos state with deadly daily clashes.During the clashes, the cultists usually disturb and threatening the lives and property of residents and business owners with the use of weapons like guns, cutlasses and machetes.According to a resident who claim anonymous, stated that the cultists initially go after one another, but now, they go for who is not part of their members.It was gatherd that, the cultists dominated Alasia down to Adio, Ayetoro and Ketu area of Lagos state.“The cultists’ attacks in my area are a major concern; initially, they usually go after one another, but now, what they do is go after people that are not cultists in the community.The clashes involve members of the Aiye and Eiye cult groups and each of the groups has a territory in the community that they control.The resident stated.“In Ijanikin, Aiye cultists are in charge of Alasia down to Adio, Ayetoro, and Ketu areas, but Oto, Cele and Ile Oba Bus Stops, and some parts of Adio are controlled by the Eiye cult groups.”, the source said.
