SDP moves to suspend Gbagi, saying he is an unmarketable product

Crisis brews in Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Delta State as the leadership of the party accused its governorship candidate in the 2023 general elections, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi of demarketing the party.
Addressing a section of newsmen on Wednesday, the State Publicity Secretary, Comrade George Onyidu, said the party regretted giving the governorship ticket to Chief Gbagi.
The statement reads, “We Regret having a man who has no regard and no respect for party leader.
“From the beginning, we tolerated his excesses; thinking he will change. Deltans could not have voted for him. He practically became the State Chairman, of the State Working Committee and the only one who is running SDP.
“We were never part of his actions. What manner of man is he?
He never keeps to his promises, and abuses party leaders from the National to Ward levels. Whenever he went out for campaigns, we return with bitterness.
“We shall decide for him as far as SDP Delta State is concerned. It would have been better if we never had a governorship candidate. Let the whole world know that we are not part of his abysmal failure in the last election.”
Speaking in the same vein, the State Assistant Secretary, Mr Ifeanyi Iyamah, said Gbagi was never ready for the election, “hence the woeful outcome.”
He said, “In his entire career, he is yet to meet a character like Gbagi.
“We shall take a stand soon. We don’t need him here in SDP,” he stated.
