One killed, houses burnt as cult fights over Trailer Park Revenue in Delta

Tension in EKU community in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta state following crisis among ‘Blackheart’ cult members over trailer park tickets revenue in the community.

It was learned that several houses, and a car were burnt following the attacks and counterattacks by the warring groups.

A community source said the current commander of the anti-cult local security operatives who is also a member of ‘Blackheart’ allegedly shot dead one rival youth over who to control the trailer park in the community.

Our source said the park was formally controlled by the Bakassi security group but was later taken over by the current anti-cult commander.

It was gathered that each trailer in the park paid twenty thousand (20,000) to lift goods from the park but the anti-cult commander was opposed by another youth leader in the community who is also a member of the ‘Blackheart cult group’.

He said the fight broke out when the anti-cult commander was beaten up by the rival group in an attempt to take over control of the park.

But been upset by the attack, the anti-cult commander mobilised his men and policemen to clampdown on members of the rival group which led to the death of one of the rival group members and the burning of houses in the community.

However, when contacted, the Delta State police spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe said he was not aware of the crisis in the community. But promised to investigate and get back to our correspondent.
