Yar’Adua ‘ll be my role model as I take over leadership May 29 -Tinubu

President-elect, Bola Tinubu has commended the late President Umar Musa Yar’Adua for strides to stabilize Nigeria’s democracy and present top governance for the citizens, adding that he would follow come May 29.

Tinubu, in a memorial tribute, stated that the late Yar’Adua lived a life worth emulation, stressing if he had not died Nigeria would have been more unified than now.

The statement reads, “We’ll Never Forget You! Today, as always, I keep in mind my excellent buddy and brother in the struggle for democracy and right governance in Nigeria, the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, who died on this day 13 years ago.

“May 5, 2010, may have long gone but, for some of us, the wound is still fresh. We keep in mind the day a lot as we understand the purposeful lifestyles lived by Mallam Umaru Yar’Adua.

“As a friend and political companion, I cherish the fond recollections of honesty, steadfastness, patriotism and excellence in public career left behind by the late Yar’Adua both as governor of Katsina State (1999 to 2007) and president of Nigeria (2007 to 2010).

“As I prepare to take the reins of leadership of this country on May 29, I have decided to observe the good examples set by leaders like Mallam Umaru Yar’Adua who showcased an incredible feeling of propriety and selfless leadership rendered to our country.

“Rest on, pricey brother. May your soul proceed to locate peace with your Maker, amen,” he added.
