The executive members of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Delta State have parted ways with their 2023 Governorship Candidate, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi and have joined the moving train of the state governor-elect, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.

The state chairman of SDP, Ambassador Oke Idawene spoke with newsmen when he led his exco members on a courtesy visit to the governor-elect and speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori in his office at Asaba, made it clear that they had parted ways with Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi and had nothing to do with him, adding that he is on his own.

According to him, they were not part of the litigation brought against the governor-elect by the SPD governorship candidate, stressing that Olorogun Gbagi imposed himself on members of the party in the state because he wanted to be governor.

While saying that the dream of making Oborevwori governor had been realized collectively, there is no need to wait. Ambassador Idawene noted that “we want to let you know that we are not part of any litigation against your emergence as governor-elect of the state”

Responding, Delta State governor–elect, Oborevwori expressed gratitude to the state SPD Exco members for the visit, saying that “I have told you people that I want to be governor for all Deltans. I want to use this opportunity to thank all Deltans for the support and love they demonstrated, we were able to win 21 local government areas out of the 25 local government areas in the state, by the special grace of God, with a margin of 119,880. I believe Deltans have spoken and the voting is for all of us.”
