By Sola Omoniyi, Lagos
Following the supreme court ruling on Tuesday 9 May, 2023 on Osun State Election, the Nigeria president-elect, Bola Tinubu congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke on his victory.
Recall that incumbent governor Adegboyega Oyetola of All Progressives Congress had earlier challenged the election result that pronounced the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Ademola Adeleke, the winner in the gubernatorial election.
However, the apex court pronounced Ademola Adeleke as the duly elected governor of Osun State.
The president-elect, Bola Tinubu reacting to the ruling, congratulated Governor Ademola Adeleke.
According to a release signed by his spokesperson Tunde Rahman, he maintained that the Apex court has spoken and all must obey its verdict.
The president-elect also commended the past governor, Oyetola for his efforts for the development of Osun state.
“I must also commend the immediate-past governor of the state, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola, for exercising his democratic rights as the constitution allows him to do.
The statement reads: “Governor Oyetola discharged himself creditably in office. He lost the office but did not lose his integrity and reputation as the governor who brought efficiency, transparency and accountability to the business of governance.” He added
However, Tinubu urges all the people of Osun to work for peace and progress in the state.
