Union Directs Workers To Begin Nationwide Strike Monday

Following the ongoing alleged hardship in Nigeria and among Marine workers, Labour Union has directed all Nigerian workers to shut down operations throughout the country and begin a nationwide strike starting from Monday, June 5, 2023.
The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria stated that all workers should shut down every shipping company and begin an indefinite strike throughout the nation.
It was disclosed that the strike was due to a lingering misunderstanding between shipping companies and employees over poor packages and welfare.
According to the Union president, Prince Adewale Adeyanju, he bewailed that since the year 2018, the Organized Union had been fighting for standard wages for the welfare of workers, but till the moment no turnout.
He maintained that despite various interventions of the past Minister of Transportation, Muazu Sambo, the shipping companies had refused to comply with the request of the workers.
However, the union stated that they are embarking on a nationwide strike starting on Monday, June 5.
