FG Shuts Eko Bridge For 40-day Repair

Following damages noticed on some of the Eko bridge components, federal government of Nigeria has declared that the bridge would be closed for 40 days.
This is according to a statement signed on Thursday, July 20, by Mrs Olukorede Kesha, the federal government controller of works in Lagos state.
She stated that its necessary the Island -bound lane of the Alaka-Costain-Iganmu section of Eko bridge would closed for 40 days, commencing from Sunday, July 23.
Kesha asserted that any further delay in the repair of the bridge might compromise the integrity and stability of the entire bridge, which might endanger the motorist and commuters.
She maintained that the closure is to allow contractors carry out the necessary repairs with the aim of restoring the integrity of the bridge within the scheduled time frame
However, she added that the service lane leading to Iponri would be available, and some other alternative routes plying Western Avenue and its environs.
To manage highway traffic, motorists are advised to cooperate with the Traffic Management Team.
