Two allegedly killed, students injured over attack on Ogbe-Ijoh community

No fewer than two people have been allegedly shot dead and two other students sustained varying degrees of bullet injuries following an alleged attack on the Ogbe-Ijoh community in Warri South West Local Government Area by suspected Aladja community youths in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State.
The incident allegedly occurred at about 8:am, Saturday 22nd July 2023.
This is according to a statement signed by Amb. Okosu Smart, National President (OIDF) of which a copy was sent to a Congress news correspondent on Saturday.
The community said it took the security operatives over three hours to repel the attack where several law-abiding indigenes in the community were killed and others severely injured.
It would be recalled that the Ogbe-Ijoh community had on the 12th and 19th of July, 2023 raised alarm of unprovoked and unwarranted separate attacks on the community by suspected Aladja youths.
The angry youths said they had been pushed to the wall and left with no option but to go into self-help to protect their community and its citizens.
The statement reads, “The attention of the Ogbe-Ijoh Interest, Defensive Forum (OIDF) has been drawn to the provoking attacks on peaceful Ogbe-Ijoh community today the 22nd July, 2023 & the sporadic shooting of gunshots into our community by Aladja Militants.
“In the early hours of today 22nd July, while everyone was focusing on their normal businesses, the Aladja community in Udu LGA laid ambush close to Ogbe-Ijoh police station, shot dead miss Patient Johnson, Mr Pere Iyorogugha & injured two other students in the community.
“It was on 12th July 2023, the same Aladja militants came to attack the Ogbe-Ijoh community & injured two young girls on their residence, while on the 19th July 2023, another provoking attack was carried out against the peaceful Ogbe-Ijoh community, coupled with today’s 22nd July incident and several times.
“As Ogbe-Ijoh people we will no longer fold our hands and accept this provoking attacks on our peaceful ancient Kingdom, enough is enough.”
