Tragedy as N-Delta warlord, Igbegbe buried amidst tears

Tears flowed as the Niger Delta warlord, late Chief Friday Igbegbe, popularly known as ‘Igbegbe’ is buried in Ogbe-Ijoh Community, Warri southwest Local Council, Delta state, on Sunday.It was learnt he died a mysterious death on Saturday evening, and traditional wake keep was immediately done and he was buried on Sunday afternoon.The community was agog by sympathizers and fellow Niger Delta agitators who horrily visited the community to give him the last respect.Source, added that the late Chief Igbegbe fought apparently in all the phases of the Niger Delta struggle from late 20th -early 21st centuries.While expressing sadness, many lamented that his death was a big blow to Ijaw nation, and that his enduring legacies would be forever remembered.Until his death, he was described as a philanthropist, bridge builder, an hero and a man of impeccable character.The source which described him as hero, asserted that, he (Igbegbe) proudly and gallantly defended the Niger Delta and Ijaw course in previous phases of the struggle without a bullet stain.
