By Peters Monday, Abuja
The Society for the Welfare of Unemployed Youths of Nigeria (SWUYN), a legally responsible non-profit and non-governmental organisation registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission in Nigeria since 2016, recently met with the Federal Minister of Regional Development, Engr Abubakar Momoh, to discuss strategic partnerships and collaborations to advance the interests of unemployed youths in Nigeria.
The SWUYN’s mission is to empower unemployed youths and promote societal welfare through education, entrepreneurship, and unity. Its key objectives include eradicating extreme poverty through free entrepreneurial skills training, providing education and vocational skills training, empowering youths through skill acquisition and entrepreneurial training, fostering unity and support among members, promoting peace, justice, and equity, partnering with government agencies and organisations to achieve common goals, catering for the general welfare of members and society, especially the less privileged, and empowering children, youths, and women in the society. The overall goal of the SWUYN is to improve the lives of unemployed youths and contribute to a better society.
As a non-profit organisation dedicated to empowering unemployed youths in Nigeria, SWUYN believes in the principle of unity, solidarity, and collective progress. SWUYN is more than just an organisation; it is a movement. A movement to reclaim the future of our unemployed youths, to restore hope, and to empower them to become active contributors to Nigeria’s development.
The meeting, which took place at the Minister’s office in Abuja, was attended by the SWUYN National President, Comr. Preye V. Tambou, accompanied by the National Legal Adviser, Comr. (Barr.) Daubry Ebipade Daubri, National Media and Publicity Secretary, Comr. Romoke Wasilat Ahmad, and FCT Abuja Chapter Secretary, Comr. Amb. Ezonfade Daniel Okringo.
During the meeting, SWUYN presented a partnership proposal outlining various initiatives and projects aimed at empowering young people. The proposal covers detailed training, employment and empowerment programmes, and community development projects, among others.
The Minister expressed his commitment to supporting the SWUYN’s initiatives, stating that unemployment among young people in the regions is a critical issue that needs to be addressed. He assured SWUYN of his unreserved best support and commitment to collaborate efforts in resolving the unemployment crisis facing Nigerian youths.
The partnership between SWUYN and the Federal Ministry of Regional Development is expected to yield several benefits for unemployed youths in Nigeria, including job creation programmes, entrepreneurship grants, scholarships, vocational training, and community development projects.
The SWUYN is optimistic that the partnership will have a positive impact on the lives of unemployed youths in Nigeria. “We appreciate the Minister’s interest in our organisation and his commitment to empowering our members. We look forward to a fruitful partnership,” said Comr. Preye V. Tambou, National President of SWUYN.
