Troops Rescue 11 Kidnap Victims, Recover Arms in Benue and Taraba

Diafa Doubra,
In a significant breakthrough against insecurity, Nigerian troops have rescued 11 kidnapped victims during a coordinated operation across Benue and Taraba States. The operation, which took place over the weekend, targeted known hideouts of criminal gangs involved in abductions and arms trafficking.
According to military sources, the rescue mission was executed with precision, leading to the safe recovery of all hostages without casualties. Several sophisticated weapons and ammunition were also recovered during the raid, including AK-47 rifles and locally fabricated firearms.
Authorities say the victims, who had been held for several days, are now receiving medical care and psychological support. Community leaders in the affected areas praised the military’s swift response, calling the rescue a relief for terrorized villages.
This latest success comes amid growing pressure on security agencies to clamp down on the rising cases of abduction in Nigeria’s Middle Belt region. Defence officials have reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling criminal networks and restoring peace.
The operation is seen as part of broader efforts by the federal government to intensify security patrols in rural communities and strengthen collaboration between local vigilantes and security forces.
