The United States government has approved a potential \$346 million arms deal with Nigeria, aimed at strengthening the country’s capacity to combat terrorism, banditry, and illicit trafficking. The package, which is still subject to approval by the US Congress, includes advanced ammunition, precision-guided bombs, and guided rockets.

According to the US State Department, the sale aligns with Nigeria’s security modernization efforts and will enhance the effectiveness of its armed forces in tackling persistent threats across the country. Nigerian defence officials have welcomed the development, describing it as a timely boost to ongoing military operations in the North-East and other flashpoint regions.
