NNPC, Gas Suppliers Seal 20-Year Gas Deal with NLNG

By Diafa Doubra,
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, alongside key upstream gas producers, has signed long-term gas supply agreements with Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited to strengthen the nation’s energy sector.
Under the deal, the partners committed to deliver 1.29 billion standard cubic feet of gas per day as feedstock for NLNG’s production, ensuring steady supply for both domestic consumption and export. Industry stakeholders describe the agreement as a critical milestone that will boost Nigeria’s revenue base, improve foreign exchange earnings, and create new jobs across the oil and gas value chain.
The 20-year pact is also expected to reposition Nigeria as a reliable player in the global LNG market at a time when demand for cleaner energy is on the rise. Officials say the move demonstrates government’s determination to harness the country’s vast natural gas reserves to power industries, stabilize electricity supply, and drive long-term economic growth.
