Japan dismisses reports of special visa scheme for Nigerians

By Diafa Doubra,
The Japanese government has denied claims circulating on social media about the creation of a special visa scheme for Nigerians wishing to relocate to the country.
According to Japan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the viral messages suggesting that Nigerians could apply for a new settlement visa in Kisarazu City are completely false. The government clarified that no such programme exists and urged the public to rely only on official embassy announcements for immigration information.
Officials stressed that Japan maintains strict immigration policies, and any updates regarding visa categories are always communicated through official diplomatic channels. The embassy further warned Nigerians against falling victim to fraudulent agents or online scams exploiting the false report.
The clarification comes after many Nigerians began making inquiries about the supposed scheme, raising concerns about misinformation and exploitation.
