By Diafa Doubra,
The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) has announced that it recovered over **₦10 billion** on behalf of aggrieved consumers within the last six months.
Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Adamu Abdullahi, disclosed this during a media briefing, noting that the recoveries came from various sectors, including banking, aviation, e-commerce, and telecommunications. He explained that most cases involved unfair charges, delayed refunds, poor service delivery, and exploitation of consumers by service providers.
Abdullahi stressed that the Commission remains committed to protecting consumer rights, adding that the refund process has restored public confidence in the agency’s work. He further assured Nigerians that the FCCPC will intensify its monitoring and enforcement drive, particularly as complaints about digital transactions and online fraud continue to rise.
The Commission also urged businesses to prioritize transparency, fair pricing, and quality service, warning that erring organizations would face sanctions.
