BREAKING: Nigeria Police Issues Public Safety Advisory

By Micheal Chukwuebuka
The Nigeria Police Force has issued a fresh advisory to the public, urging citizens to exercise caution and observe key safety measures in their daily activities.
In a statement circulated nationwide, the Force highlighted a series of guidelines intended to protect Nigerians from avoidable confrontations with law enforcement officers and from falling victim to security risks.
Among the recommendations, citizens were advised to remain calm and respectful whenever approached by law enforcement officers, whether in uniform or plain clothes. The Police also stressed the importance of carrying proper identification at all times, such as a national ID card, school or workplace ID, or a valid driver’s licence.
Nigerians were further encouraged to carry receipts for electronic gadgets, including laptops and bulk devices, to avoid being mistaken for criminals.
The advisory also cautioned against carrying multiple ATM cards, warning that possession of more than ten could raise suspicions.
*Other safety tips included:*
* Deleting sensitive bank alerts from mobile phones and transferring financial information to external storage.
* Avoiding late-night movements without valid identification or company.
* Dressing responsibly to prevent unnecessary confrontations.
* Ensuring all vehicle documents and licences are valid before use.
* Paying close attention during vehicle searches conducted by officers.
* Exercising caution when offering lifts to strangers and thoroughly checking vehicles afterwards to ensure no suspicious items are left behind.
The Police emphasised that these measures are “for the good of the public” and urged citizens to share the message widely to help safeguard others.
