The Federal Government has dismissed recent claims suggesting that the Ajaokuta Steel Company is in a state of disrepair, insisting that the facility remains in good shape.

In a statement, authorities described the negative reports as misleading, stressing that the government has continued to prioritize the revival of the steel plant as part of its industrialization agenda. Officials noted that recent inspections at the site revealed that most of the infrastructure remains intact and functional, contrary to the impression created in some sections of the media.

The government further assured Nigerians that plans are underway to partner with both local and international investors to complete the project, which has been stalled for decades. It emphasized that reviving Ajaokuta is central to achieving self-sufficiency in steel production, creating jobs, and reducing the country’s dependence on imports.

Stakeholders and industry experts have long argued that a fully functional Ajaokuta Steel Company could transform Nigeria’s manufacturing sector and boost economic growth.
