The Child Protection Network (CPN) has stepped up efforts to promote mental health awareness by training both children and adults on how to identify, manage, and respond to psychological challenges.

During the training session, experts emphasized the importance of early education on mental well-being, stressing that children who are informed about mental health are better equipped to handle stress, trauma, and peer pressure. The programme also targeted parents and caregivers, teaching them practical ways to support children who may be struggling emotionally.

Organizers noted that the initiative was born out of rising cases of depression, anxiety, and substance abuse among young people. They explained that the goal is not only to break the stigma surrounding mental health but also to build resilience among children and provide adults with the skills to offer proper guidance.

Participants described the training as timely, saying it opened their eyes to warning signs that are often overlooked. They also called on government and stakeholders to scale up such programmes nationwide, so that more families and communities can benefit.

CPN reaffirmed its commitment to prioritizing child welfare and urged Nigerians to view mental health as an essential part of overall well-being, especially in today’s fast-changing world.
