The United States Mission in Nigeria has reiterated its stance against corruption, declaring that high-profile Nigerians found guilty of graft will be denied entry visas.

Speaking on Monday, the Mission stressed that corruption remains one of the biggest obstacles to Nigeria’s development, noting that individuals who divert public resources for personal gain should not expect the privilege of traveling freely to the US.

According to the statement, the move is part of Washington’s broader effort to promote good governance and accountability across Africa. The Mission added that the restrictions would not affect ordinary Nigerians but are targeted at those “whose corruption undermines democracy, fuels insecurity, and robs citizens of opportunities.”

This announcement comes amid growing public demand for stronger measures against corruption, especially as Nigeria battles economic hardship and declining public trust in leadership.
