NiRA Announces Tech Convergence 2.0 to Shape Nigeria’s Digital Future

By Diafa Doubra,
The Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA) has unveiled plans for its upcoming Tech Convergence 2.0, an initiative aimed at advancing Nigeria’s digital economy and strengthening the country’s online presence.
NiRA, the body responsible for managing Nigeria’s country code top-level domain (.ng), said the conference will bring together stakeholders from technology, business, and government to discuss innovative solutions that will drive digital transformation. The event will also focus on the role of the .ng domain in promoting Nigeria’s identity in the global digital space.
Organizers noted that Tech Convergence 2.0 will serve as a platform for knowledge sharing, capacity building, and collaboration, with sessions addressing cybersecurity, digital entrepreneurship, and policies for a sustainable internet ecosystem.
Industry players believe the initiative could boost Nigeria’s participation in the global tech landscape, provided challenges such as infrastructure deficits, internet accessibility, and regulatory gaps are adequately addressed.
