One person was injured while five others were rescued after a two-storey building collapsed on Wednesday evening, 24 September, at 4 Modupeola Street, Mangoro Bus Stop, in the Alimosho area of Lagos State.
The injured victim, a 44-year-old man residing at 10 Olabode Street, Alimosho, was trapped beneath the rubble when the structure gave way at about 6:00 p.m. He was later pulled out with fractures and bruises.
He was immediately taken by officials of the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS) to the Surgical Emergency Unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), where he was admitted in stable condition.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed that the five rescued victims were taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
“The LASEMA and other first responders arrived promptly at the scene and rescued a trapped victim and five others from the debris,” Omotoso said.
He added that the injured man was “admitted to hospital in a stable condition for further medical care.”
Videos circulating on social media captured operatives of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) actively engaged in the rescue efforts at the site.
