Tajudeen Abbas, a Speaker of the House of Representatives, has expressed confidence that Nigeria will overcome its security challenges within the next four years under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Speaking on Sunday at an event organised by the National Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dayo Israel, in Abuja, Abbas said the President is fully committed to addressing insecurity across the country.

“There’s no country in the world that can achieve meaningful progress without adequate security,” the Speaker said.

He added that both the President and the National Assembly have been working tirelessly to implement non-kinetic measures aimed at improving security nationwide.

Highlighting recent progress, Abbas cited Kaduna State as an example, noting that the British High Commissioner to Nigeria recently presented an award to Governor Uba Sani in recognition of improved security in the state.

“I believe that within the next two years — and certainly within the next four years of this administration — by God’s grace, we will no longer be talking about insecurity,” he said.

“The government is determined to do whatever is necessary to create an enabling environment that will mitigate and prevent insecurity more than ever before.”
