A socio-political group in the South-West has fired back at social media activist Reno Omokri over his recent remarks suggesting that the region would continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the group dismissed Omokri’s comments as misleading, insisting that the people of the South-West will not blindly reward what they described as the president’s “underwhelming performance” since taking office.

According to the group, citizens across the region have been struggling with the harsh economic realities triggered by the removal of fuel subsidy, rising cost of living, and growing insecurity. They stressed that the president must earn the trust of the people through tangible results, not political sentiment.

The statement further noted that while Tinubu’s 2023 victory drew strong support from the South-West, that loyalty should not be mistaken for complacency. “We are proud of our democratic values,” the group said, “and we will hold every leader accountable, no matter where they come from.”

The group urged the president to prioritize policies that directly impact ordinary Nigerians, warning that empty promises and political propaganda will not guarantee votes in the next election.
