Ex-Senator Arrested Over Alleged Rape Of 13-Year-Old Girl

By Micheal Chukwuebuka
FORMER Senator representing Adamawa North, Elisha Abbo, is in police custody following allegations that he raped a 13-year-old secondary school student.
Abbo, who voluntarily reported to the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja, is being interrogated over the alleged assault said to have occurred on 29 June 2025 at his residence in Katampe, Abuja.
The victim’s parents told journalists that Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed (Binani), a former governorship candidate in Adamawa State, visited their home, allegedly urging them not to expose the case. They also claimed that Abbo sent money to the girl’s father several times in what they believe were attempts to silence the family and suppress the matter.
As of the time of filing this report, the former lawmaker remained in detention at the FCID, pending further investigation.
This latest allegation adds to a string of controversies that have trailed Abbo in recent years. In 2019, he was arrested after a viral video showed him physically assaulting a woman at a sex toy shop in Abuja. He has also faced previous accusations of blackmail involving a married woman and an alleged sex tape.
The police are yet to issue an official statement on the latest case, but sources within the FCID confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
