Two Senators Inaugurated To Fill Vacant Seats In Nigerian Senate

Two newly elected senators have been inaugurated into the Nigerian Senate to fill vacant seats in Anambra and Edo States.

Emmanuel Nwachukwu of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) was sworn in on Wednesday as the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District.

Also inaugurated during plenary was Joseph Ikpea of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who now represents Edo Central Senatorial District.

Their inauguration followed by-elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in August 2025 to fill the vacancies created by the death of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah and the departure of Senator Monday Okpebholo.

Senator Ubah, who represented Anambra South, passed away earlier this year, while Okpebholo vacated his seat after contesting and winning the Edo State governorship election.

With their swearing-in, the Senate has now filled the two vacant positions, restoring full representation for the affected constituencies.
