Stop Using My Name for Commercial Gains — Peter Obi Warns Online Business Owners

By Diafa Doubra,
The presidential candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 general elections, Mr. Peter Obi, has cautioned online business owners and social media influencers against using his name or image for commercial purposes without authorization.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Obi expressed concern over the growing trend of individuals and companies leveraging his popularity to promote their products, political views, and fundraising schemes. He warned that such acts were misleading and capable of damaging his reputation and integrity.
The former Anambra State governor emphasized that he had no affiliations with any business or platform currently promoting products or services in his name. He urged Nigerians to be wary of fraudulent advertisements, stressing that his identity should not be exploited for financial gain or political propaganda.
Obi reiterated his commitment to promoting transparency, integrity, and ethical conduct in public life, noting that the unauthorized use of his name runs contrary to the values he stands for.
