Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has secured a major educational partnership with the Qatar Foundation to tackle the growing challenge of out-of-school children and the Almajiri system in northern Nigeria. The collaboration aims to provide access to quality education, vocational training, and mentorship for thousands of vulnerable children who have been left behind in the nation’s formal education system.

Speaking during a high-level meeting with officials of the Qatar Foundation in Abuja, Senator Tinubu emphasized that the initiative aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda, which prioritizes human capital development and youth empowerment. She noted that the partnership would also focus on building modern learning centers equipped with digital tools and life-skills programmes designed to prepare the children for future employment opportunities.

The First Lady expressed optimism that the collaboration would not only reduce the number of children roaming the streets but also help restore dignity and purpose to the lives of many families. Education stakeholders have applauded the move, describing it as a step in the right direction toward achieving inclusive education and sustainable development in Nigeria.
