Human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has issued a stern call to the Federal Government, demanding the immediate release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.

Sowore, in a post on his social media platform on Wednesday, cautioned the government that it had only a few hours left to “do the right thing” by obeying court orders mandating Kanu’s release. He accused the Tinubu-led administration of continuously undermining the rule of law and showing disregard for judicial authority.

The activist insisted that Kanu’s prolonged detention, despite multiple court rulings in his favour, represents a gross violation of human rights and sets a dangerous precedent for Nigeria’s democracy. Sowore argued that no government should act above the law, stressing that justice must be upheld irrespective of political differences or regional sentiments.

He urged Nigerians to remain alert and hold leaders accountable, emphasizing that freedom and justice cannot thrive in a country where court judgments are ignored.
