Chinese Businessman Arrested Over Ikeja Bomb Blast in CCTV Shop

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a Chinese national, identified as Joe Gu, in connection with the recent improvised explosive device (IED) explosion that rocked a CCTV camera shop in the Ikeja area of Lagos.

According to reports, detectives from the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Yaba, apprehended Gu on Saturday, October 25, at his Banana Island residence in Ikoyi. Preliminary investigations revealed that he had a long-standing business relationship with the complainant dating back to 2013.

Police sources said the arrest followed a detailed forensic investigation that linked Gu to the IED incident, which caused panic around Kodesho Street in Ikeja. Authorities assured residents that the situation was under control and that further investigations were ongoing to determine the motive behind the explosion.

Meanwhile, the suspect remains in custody as detectives intensify efforts to uncover any possible accomplices and the origin of the explosive device.
