Rights Activist Ozobo Lauds US Moves to End Terrorism, Christian Killings
By Monday Peters, Abuja
Nigeria Activist and Senior Advocate of Niger Delta Emancipation Struggle, Comrade Ozobo Austin has commended the United States for designating Nigeria as a Country of Particular Concern due to alleged violations of religious freedom. The activist expressed hope that this move will prompt the Nigerian government to take concrete actions to address the killings and persecution of Christians in the country.
The US designation was made by President Donald Trump, who cited the “existential threat” faced by Christians in Nigeria at the hands of radical Islamists. Trump vowed to work towards protecting the rights and freedoms of persecuted Christians globally.
The activist said the Nigeria government has been trivializing Christian killings over the years, adding that Trump actions will restore justice, hope and freedom for Nigerian helpless Christians.
Ozobo revealed that Islamic terrorists, bandits and herdsmen all from the Muslim faith were working freely with branded guns in a broad day light without being challenged or stiffly sanctioned by security agents and its government whose heads were mostly from the Islamic faith.
He noted that Nigerians were currently under the seizure of Islamic terrorists, herdsmen and bandits, posing greater existential threat to the country’s residents.
The Niger Delta senior advocate pointed out that it was the failure of the Nigerian government to prioritize the need to end the endless killings of citizens, which was the reason things have degenerated to a level of US military threats to the country.
Reaffirming the US position, Ozobo emphasised that hundreds of thousands of Christians and innocent civilians had been killed under the previous and the current administrations in Nigeria.
According to him, anybody that said there were no Christians killings in Nigeria, the person is a day dreamer or crumb eater of the current clueless administrations of the country.
“The so-called bandits and Islamic terrorists parade himself with AkA 47 and 49 rifles in a broad day under the watch of security agents but instead of clamping them down, the security agents were shielding them because they were of the same Muslim faith with the terrorists and speaks the same Arabic language with them”, Ozobo added.
