Immigration Officials Seize Senator Natasha’s Passport Amid Political Tension
By Diafa Doubra,
In a fresh twist to the unfolding political drama, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has accused the Nigerian Immigration Service of seizing her international passport at the airport under alleged instructions from Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
According to the lawmaker, she was stopped by immigration officers while preparing to board a flight and informed that her passport had been flagged for confiscation. She expressed shock over the development, stating that no court order or legal restriction prevents her from traveling.
Senator Akpoti described the incident as a politically motivated attempt to intimidate her and curtail her freedom of movement. “This is a clear abuse of power,” she said, urging relevant authorities to investigate the matter and hold those responsible accountable.
The Senate President’s office has not yet responded to the allegation. However, the incident has stirred strong reactions among political observers and human rights advocates, who have called for transparency and due process in handling such sensitive issues.
