A tragic incident has thrown the city of Ogbomoso, Oyo State, into mourning after a secondary school teacher was beaten to death by his students.

The teacher, identified as Mr. Adekunle, was reportedly attacked by a group of students at Soun High School after he attempted to stop them from gambling during school hours. Witnesses said the confrontation escalated when the students turned violent, hitting the teacher with sticks and other objects.

Mr. Adekunle sustained severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital but sadly died from internal bleeding and multiple fractures.

The shocking event has sparked outrage among residents, parents, and education stakeholders, who described the act as a grim reflection of moral decay and growing indiscipline among students.

The Oyo State Police Command has since launched an investigation into the killing, with some students already taken into custody for questioning. Meanwhile, the state’s Ministry of Education has vowed to ensure that justice is served, promising stricter measures to curb violence and misconduct in schools.
