The Nigeria Police Force has launched coordinated patrols across churches and worship centres in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) following growing concerns over alleged attacks on Christians.

The operation, carried out in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS) and local vigilante groups, aims to reassure residents and strengthen security ahead of Sunday services and other religious gatherings.

Police sources said the exercise was part of proactive measures to prevent any form of religious violence, especially after reports by international observers describing the situation in Nigeria as “religious persecution.”

Officers have been deployed to strategic locations, including border communities and forested areas around Abuja, to deter potential threats. The FCT Police Command urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives, assuring that the government is committed to protecting all citizens regardless of their faith.
