The Education Rights Campaign (ERC) has urged the Federal Ministry of Education to urgently address growing confusion surrounding the implementation of Nigeria’s new school curriculum.

The group said the sudden introduction of the revised syllabus and the planned shift to Computer-Based Testing (CBT) for the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) have left students, teachers, and parents bewildered.

According to the ERC, many schools are struggling to adjust to the changes, with some SS3 students reportedly being asked to register for subjects they never studied under the old curriculum.

The organization criticized the government for poor communication and lack of adequate training for teachers, warning that the confusion could negatively affect students’ academic performance. It called on the Minister of Education to provide clear guidelines and timelines to ensure a smooth and fair transition for all stakeholders.
