In a chilling attack that has heightened fears of insecurity, six senior directors from the Federal Ministry of Defence were kidnapped by gunmen along the Kabba–Lokoja highway in Kogi State. The officials were reportedly traveling in a convoy from Lokoja to Abuja when they were ambushed near the Obajana area by heavily armed men who blocked the road and opened fire.

Eyewitnesses said the assailants forced the vehicles to a halt before whisking the victims into a nearby forest. Security sources described the incident as “a well-coordinated operation,” adding that the gunmen appeared to have tracked the convoy. The Kogi State Police Command has confirmed the abduction and launched a manhunt in collaboration with local vigilantes and military units.

Authorities say efforts are underway to rescue the kidnapped officials unhurt. The attack adds to a growing list of abductions along major highways in the North-Central region, sparking renewed calls for the federal government to strengthen security surveillance and patrol operations on Nigerian roads.
