PDP Suspends Anambra Governorship Candidate Ezenwafor Over Poor Election Performance
By Diafa Doubra,
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State has suspended its governorship candidate, Dr. Jude Ezenwafor, following the party’s poor performance in the just-concluded election. The decision, announced by the state working committee, came after Ezenwafor secured only 1,401 votes across the 21 local government areas one of the party’s weakest outings in the state’s political history.
Party officials accused Ezenwafor of showing little commitment during the campaign, alleging that he ignored party directives and failed to mobilize supporters effectively. In a statement, the PDP said the one-month suspension would allow for a review of his conduct and the party’s overall campaign strategy.
Sources within the party disclosed that the leadership is considering a total overhaul of its structure in Anambra to rebuild public confidence ahead of future elections. The suspension has sparked mixed reactions among members, with some describing it as a necessary step toward party discipline, while others view it as an attempt to scapegoat one individual for the party’s broader internal challenges.
