Actor Yomi Fabiyi has raised fresh alarm over the ongoing investigation into the death of the late singer Mohbad, alleging attempts to suppress key developments in the case.

In a video posted on his social media page, Fabiyi made a direct appeal to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, recalling that he had written to the President in May 2025 after receiving what he described as a video purportedly showing how Mohbad was killed.

He said the President’s office subsequently issued a directive to the Inspector General of Police, instructing that the matter be thoroughly investigated and all responsible parties prosecuted. Fabiyi claimed that once the FCID in Abuja assumed control of the investigation from Lagos, several suspects were arrested, and Mohbad’s widow, Wunmi, voluntarily submitted herself to police in Abuja.

However, the actor now alleges that the case is “being covered up,” stating that some of the same suspects have been encouraged to file petitions against him in Lagos in relation to their arrests.

According to him, the petitions question the actions of the Inspector General of Police and imply that offices under the Assistant Inspector General of Police, including SCID Annex, Alagbon, and Zone 2, should query why the suspects were detained.

Fabiyi said the individuals involved had already been investigated for offences such as murder, theft, conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to intimidate, and criminal intimidation. He described the petitions as an attempt to silence him and expressed concern for his safety, saying he fears something may happen to him if he honours any summons.

He stressed that his only demand is justice for Mohbad and vowed that he will not be silenced.
