Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has spoken candidly about a distressing experience in her career, revealing that she once lost a major endorsement deal because she refused to travel to Dubai to meet the chairman of a popular company.

Speaking during a recent show, the award-winning artist said the pressure became so blatant at one point that she was told she would “lose a role” if she did not agree to meet the chairman in person. According to her, the incident exposed how frequently talent is sidelined in the entertainment industry.

Savage recounted how a company insisted she accompany its chairman on a trip to Dubai. When she declined, the endorsement was immediately withdrawn. She said it was at that moment she realised “they don’t rate my talent,” describing the experience as deeply hurtful.

Addressing the audience, the singer spoke openly about the hidden pressures many entertainers face, particularly women. She stressed that artists are often undervalued despite their hard work and creativity.

The revelation drew sympathetic reactions from the crowd, as Savage questioned the unrealistic expectations placed on female performers and called for greater respect within the industry.
